Steven Walker, Arkansas State Representative, has been named Alumni of the Year at Ozarka College. Steven is serving his first term in the Arkansas House of Representatives.

"I am honored to be named Ozarka College Alumni of the Year, " said Walker. "I am so grateful for the support of my professors, my classmates, and the entire Ozarka College community. I would not be where I am today without their help. Ozarka College equipped me with the essential tools needed to excel in my career. The courses I took challenged me to think critically and creatively. The professors I had inspired me to pursue my dreams. Moreover, the friends I made at Ozarka College have been there for me every step of the way. "

Steven earned an Associate of Arts degree in General Education in 2010 before obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Mid-Level Education from Arkansas State University and earning his Master of Science in Educational Leadership. Steven has since gone on to serve for the 94^th General Assembly and on multiple committees, including House Education, Insurance, and Commerce Committees.

"We are honored to recognize Steven as Ozarka's Alumni of the Year, " said Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka College vice president of advancement. "Steven represents the best of Ozarka and is a tremendous advocate for Arkansas education in our district. His success in the Arkansas House of Representatives is a testament to what hard work can accomplish and we are proud to have been part of his journey. "

"I am committed to giving back to Ozarka College, " Walker continued. "I hope to use my skills and experience to help future generations of students succeed. I am also committed to supporting Ozarka College's mission of providing a life-changing experience through education. Thank you again for this award. It is a privilege to be a part of the Ozarka College community. "

Walker was an outstanding student at Ozarka and is now an outstanding representative for our State covering Baxter, Izard, Newton, Searcy, and Stone County. Ozarka is proud to recognize him as our 2023 Alumni of the Year!
