ARKANSAS COMMUNITY COLLEGES ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 22 ACADEMIC ALL-STAR STUDENTS

Published on November 23, 2024

Winners of the Academic All-Star Scholarships were announced mid-October in Hot Springs at the annual Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) conference.

Dr. Bentley Wallace, President of the ACC board of Directors and Chancellor of Arkansas State University - Mountain Home, presented the awards at a lunch honoring the 22 scholarship winners.   The students were awarded a transfer scholarship to any Arkansas public four-year university to complete their bachelor's degree.   Central Methodist University (Missouri) also offered a transfer scholarship to student awardees.   The combined total value of the scholarships is estimated to be more than $500,000.

"Each year, these generous scholarships help our state's highest-achieving community college students to follow their dreams, " said Andrea Henderson, ACC Executive Director.   "These awardees work hard to maintain excellent grades pursuing careers in healthcare, education, engineering, and more.   And they do it while working, raising families, and giving back to their communities.   These scholarships are a fantastic way to help to reward them for their hard work and help them continue to achieve their career goals. "

Each of the 22 public two-year college names one student as an "Academic All-Star. "   These students maintain a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.25 out of a possible 4.0 and are outstanding campus and community leaders.

The 22 ACC member institutions located throughout the state serve more than 60,000 Arkansans per year through educational programs, technical training, continuing education, and customized workforce training for business and industry.
