Walker to Give Commencement Address

Member of The Arkansas House of Representatives and previous Ozarka College outstanding Alumni, Steven Walker, will address Ozarka College graduates during the 2024 Commencement Ceremony. Ozarka's Commencement will take place on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the John E. Miller Education Complex in Melbourne, Arkansas.

"We are very fortunate to have Representative Walker deliver our commencement address this year, " said Dr. Richard Dawe, Ozarka College president.   "Steven has been very supportive of Ozarka College and Arkansas education. It is an honor to have one of our distinguished alumni to address our graduates. "

Rep. Steven Walker is serving his first term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents District 27, which includes Newton, Searcy, and Izard counties and a portion of Baxter and Stone. For the 94th General Assembly, Rep. Walker serves on the House Education Committee and the House Insurance and Commerce Committee. Rep. Walker was born in Salem and raised in Brockwell. He has a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Mid-Level Education from Arkansas State University, and an Associate of Arts in General Education from Ozarka College. He works as a digital learning coordinator with the Northcentral Arkansas Education Service Cooperative. In 2023, Walker was selected as Ozarka College's Alumni of the Year.

The administration, faculty, and staff welcome Rep. Walker and are proud to celebrate the hard work demonstrated by the 2024 graduates of Ozarka College.
