Adult Education Part Time Instructor

Ozarka College Adult Education is seeking a part-time instructor to teach WAGE™ (Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy), employability, and basic skills in math, reading, and language classes at the Department of Corrections North Central Unit at Calico Rock. 

The Adult Education Part-time Teacher works under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education and will be responsible for providing instruction to a diverse group of individuals with a variety of personal goals, including: improving basic skills, gaining digital and financial literacy skills, and earning WAGE™ certificates. 

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment.
  • Teach basic skills/concepts in reading, language, and mathematics.
  • Teach ready for work skills and facilitate students in obtaining WAGE™ certificates.
  • Facilitate goal setting.
  • Help students acquire information needed to be successful and employable when released.
  • Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole class instruction.
  • Facilitate learning with textbooks, workbooks, lectures, computer based educational programs, audio/visual aids, hands-on activities, and peer tutors.
  • Assist students with the development of digital literacy skills and provide learning activities designed to enhance financial literacy skills.
  • Collaborate with students to document long and short-term goals based upon identified career pathways, update individual learning plans and provide students with progress reports on a consistent basis.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records.
  • Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to work cooperatively with all campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of OCAE and have the ability to deliver quality customer service.  A background check and requirements for working at the NCU must be met.

Minimum qualifications:

  • The formal education of a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Valid Arkansas Department of Education Educator’s License.
