Aircraft Mechanic (A&P)

Ozarka College is seeking an FAA licensed and experienced Aircraft Mechanic for the Ozarka College Aviation Department.  The Aircraft mechanic, acting under the direction of the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator (Chief Mechanic/IA), is responsible for conducting maintenance on the College aircraft, and other equipment located at the Melbourne, Arkansas airport (42A).  This position requires excellent attention to detail, high energy, and willingness to accept responsibility and work with others.  The position will be twelve months and have full Ozarka College benefits. 

Position Specific: 

  • Develops preventative maintenance schedules for College aircraft, facilities and equipment, and participates in overall planning by providing information and advice concerning aircraft status, maintenance schedules, or component purchasing needs
  • Reports maintenance and repairs needed in maintaining aircraft and facilities to the Maintenance Coordinator
  • Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate work activities
  • Maintains records and prepares aircraft repair, equipment history, and materials purchased
  • Performs other duties as assigned by, and works closely with, the maintenance Coordinator and Director of Aviation
  • Will be expected to bring own aircraft tools to provide maintenance on aircraft

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of vocational technical training, or commensurate experience, in aircraft maintenance
  • Two years of experience in aircraft airframes and power plant maintenance
  • Valid Aircraft and Power Plant FAA certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the responsibilities and skill required to fulfill the position responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of a computer as it relates to specific position requirements
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to assisting students and faculty
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrated effective organization skills
